About the Aqua Passport

The Aqua Passport is designed to encourage swimmers, teachers and parents to have fun. The more fun you can have in the water (through safe and controlled activities) the quicker you will develop.

About the Aqua Passport Scheme
Who are Swim Wales?
Swim Wales are the national governing body for aquatics in Wales. We support swimmers from their very first experience into active lifestyle choices.

What is the Aqua Passport?
The Aqua Passport is an interactive learning guide covering all areas of aquatics at every stage of the National Plan for Teaching Swimming. It has games and activities to help you to learn about aquatics.  As you progress through the passport you move through Dragon Tot, Dragonfly, Water Dragons and Dragon Skills.

Why is my local centre working with Swim Wales?
Your local centre is working with Swim Wales to ensure that all members of the learn-to-swim scheme get the best opportunity to develop in their swimming lessons.

What if I lose my Aqua Passport?
Replacement items can be purchased from your local Leisure Centre reception in your learn to swim venue.

Is this available for children with disabilities?
The Aqua passport is a guidebook which helps and
encourages children to develop in a highly visual, fun
and interactive way. As they gain basic skills, they are
able to collect stickers for each level. On completion
of the full programme, they will have the skills
required to develop a lifelong love of water and aquatic
activities.

Aqua Passport is designed to include all levels of disability.
The Aqua Passport will ensure that each swimmer
progresses through the stages at an appropriate rate to their
skill ability.

Swim Wales is dedicated to ensuring that all swimmers, regardless of disability, are able to access opportunities in swimming, equal to those available to able bodied swimmers. In order to ensure this is possible, swimmers can be directed to inclusive or segregated sessions as available within their local authority.
